Stolen Babies, A Scandal That Crosses Borders

Watch Video
PDF
For many decades, Sri Lanka and Lebanon's stolen babies flooded the adoption market to fill the heart of European would-be parents with happiness. For these children, now adult themselves, seeking out their roots can turn into the longest of journeys. The fault lies with incomplete or even intentionally falsified adoption files. People in power were aware of the lucrative trafficking carried out by unscrupulous middlemen, often linked to Catholic doctors and orphanages. After years of research, being reunited with one's biological parents is not always the end of the story, as DNA tests can deliver devastating results. Six children in their quest for identity confront perpetrators and question the failure of all those who turned a blind eye to the scandal.
