Women Farmers, The Silent Revolution
Anger is building up among women farmers! Out in the country, women have always been numerous to farm the land and work tirelessly on the agricultural domains, a male fiefdom no matter what. However, their work has rarely been recognized, let alone been paid. This situation often makes women farmers vulnerable to the slightest change in life, typically a divorce. Without work, without income, women who want to turn their life around most often have to start from scratch. Yesterday’s motto “farmers by love and feminists by choice” has never been more true. Young women farmers’ demands are the same as their grandmothers. They demand a salary, social protection and land rights, simply to have the means to reinvent tomorrow’s farmers world.
