Pandemic, Citizens Rebelling Against The State
Tens of thousands of people across Europe have lost loved ones, sometimes several family members, during the first wave of the coronavirus. Now they are holding their government and health authorities accountable. In Bergamo, Italy, the extent of the death toll was such that citizens' groups quickly rallied behind Noi Denunceremo ("We will denounce"). Elsewhere, in the ski resorts of Tyrol, Austria, in Switzerland too, other voices started denouncing how unprepared and unaccountable health officials and politicians still were. All across Europe citizens are calling for justice. Criminal investigations are under way . Will European justice systems be independent enough from politics to carry out these class actions to their end?
