My Lobster In Canada

Discover the captivating beauty of the Magdalen Islands through the epic of its lobstermen !Every year, come the beginning of May, lobster fishing creates excitement for 9 weeks on the Magdalen Islands. At the heart of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, 325 Magdalen Island fishermen lower their traps into the water to hunt lobsters on the rocky bed of the archipelago. Each boat brings back between 400 and 600 lobsters a day: a miraculous catch that pays well, even though the fall in the price of lobsters makes it much less lucrative than in the past. On these isolated islands, fishing also places great emphasis on music. And every sailor, while he is first a Magdalen Islander before being a Quebecker and Canadian, keeps within him a rich musical tradition that echoes throughout the archipelago. A close-up trip to the Acadian identity, on the wild coast of the Magdalen Islands.
