Loyalty and Dissent in Putin's Russia

In a nation divided, Russia's citizens find themselves caught between hammer and anvil: fervent Putin loyalists on one side, silent resistors on the other. We met with members of the Yunarmia, Russia's patriotic youth organization, zealously parroting the government's propaganda efforts. Like them, many Russians rally behind the war in Ukraine and boast about the resilience of their economy in the face of Western sanctions. Meanwhile, Russia’s youth and artists are self-censoring in a context of constant threats of crackdown. Portrait of a nation torn between blind patriotism and silent rebellion.
